A local charity and The Linc wellness center are teaming up to offer nutrition counseling and improve health and wellness in the community.

Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri is to host an eight-week counseling series of classes focused on debunking nutrition myths, teaching the importance of a varied diet, and suggesting how to eat for a happy and healthy life, according to a news release.

The classes will be offered 5-6 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 6-Nov. 24, at The Linc, 1299 Lafayette St. in Jefferson City.

“Many people want to eat better, but do not know how or think it is out of reach for their income or time,” the news release says. “Catholic Charities wants to help people learn new skills that will help them reach their health goals in a life-changing and positive way.”

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, classes are limited to the first 12 enrollees. Other precautions will be taken, including the requirement that class attendees wear masks and social distancing within the classroom.

The “hands-on” class is free. It will be presented by a registered dietitian/nutritionist and offer information developed in conjunction with the American Heart Association.

The deadline for enrollment is today.

For more information or to register, call The Linc at 573-634-6482.
